Part of the Rivertown Newspaper Group, the daily Republican Eagle newspaper has covered Red Wing and surrounding communities for over 140 years. The paper has a circulation of over 8,000 and a weekend supplement that reaches another 10,000 homes. The Republican Eagle received the MNA General Excellence Award in 1998 and 2000. In 1998 the paper won the NNA Best of the States award as the best newspaper in the nation with a circulation under 10,000. The Republican Eagle has also been honored with numerous MNA awards for photography, graphic design and editorial content. An expanding printing plant adjacent to the Eagle prints approximately 50 newspapers and special publications each week. A creative design department and a direct mail division offer customers full-service options for their printing and marketing needs.

Red Wing a quaint yet growing town nestled in the bluffs of the Mississippi River, is the county seat of Goodhue County. Located just 50 minutes from the Twin Cities, it is a popular destination for tourists drawn to its scenic beauty, historic architecture, antiques and namesake pottery and shoes. Recreational activities in the area include an aquatic center, the Cannon Valley bike trail, golf courses, downhill skiing, boating and fishing. Red Wing's 16,000 resident enjoy excellent medical facilities, a lively art culture and a strong school system. Minnesota State College - Southeast Technical offers custom training to local business and industry and programs distinctive to the region such as musical instrument repair and aviation maintenance.

A strong local economy includes several large employers like Fairview Red Wing Health Services and Xcel Energy. Business expansion will continue with the development of River Bluffs Business Park and a mall project.
