The Pierce County Herald is a weekly newspaper located in the picturesque rural community of Ellsworth, Wisconsin, with a population of 2,909. Ellsworth, the county seat of Pierce County, is located just 40 minutes from the cultural and convenient Twin Cities metropolitan area of Minneapolis/St. Paul. Ellsworth is the Pierce County seat and is just 15 minutes from the Mississippi River, St. Croix River and the popular Rush River for excellent fishing and recreational activities. The Pierce County Fair, 4th of July Celebration, Beldenville Old Car Club Show and Polka Fest are a few of the local community celebrations.

Our office is a small, friendly working environment, but is also part of the larger RiverTown Newspaper Group, consisting of 11 weekly newspapers, a daily and five shoppers, giving us the professionalism and technology of any large newspaper. The Pierce County Herald has a circulation of 4700, covering local news and government, feature stories, sports and community events of the entire Pierce County area. The special promotional editions throughout the year consist of our annual Progress Edition, spring and fall home improvement guides, the Ellsworth High School Graduation Scrapbook Edition, Pierce County Fair edition and a holiday guide.

The Herald's most recent awards are first places for Best Special Section (editorial) and Circulation Promotion from the Wisconsin Newspaper Association in '05 and received in 2000, were for Best Ad Idea Series, Best Special Section, and Best Ad Idea Award from the Wisconsin Newspaper Association.
