The Hudson Star-Observer community weekly serves Hudson and its surrounding townships along the scenic St. Croix River in extreme western Wisconsin.

Just 15 miles east of downtown St. Paul, exurban Hudson is a regional retail center, summer boating mecca and at about 11,000 households, it’s the county seat and largest city in St. Croix County. St. Croix was Wisconsin's fastest growing county last year and growth is projected to continue until for next 20 years.

The community is 10 minutes from two state parks and boasts a large YMCA, a showcase arts center and a thriving industrial park that has recently capitalized on the state's attractive tax climate by wooing several Minnesota corporations across the border.

Despite its rapid growth, Hudson has retained an intimate small-town flavor by carefully shaping residential development around bike and walking trails. Its historic downtown has eight colorful restaurants and coffee shops within a two-block radius near the waterfront.

The 7,000-circulation Star Observer has regularly been judged among the best of Wisconsin's largest weeklies. It regularly wins peer recognition for its editorial, photo and ad content.

Along with its weekly newspaper, the Star Observer publishes a 22,000-circulation weekend shopper, an informative community guide, a county-wide economic development magazine and hosts annual cooking and bridal shows for the region each year.
