The Park Rapids Enterprise is a twice weekly newspaper serving all of Hubbard County, the northern section of Wadena County and eastern Becker County. The Enterprise is a 4,500 – 6,000 seasonally adjusted circulation newspaper printed Wednesdays and Saturdays while our free shopper, the Express, reaches 8,200 additional homes on Saturday. The three publications employ 15 people. Park Rapids is the county seat of Hubbard County and has a population of just over 3,500 residents. One of the big businesses in the region covered by the Enterprise is tourism. Each year thousands of visitors spend their vacation time enjoying the natural beauty of the area. During the summer, the city and area population expands dramatically with the influx of visitors. The area is sprinkled with hundreds of clear lakes inviting visitors to enjoy their waters. The area is noted for its a large variety of water activities, fishing, skiing, snowmobiling and hunting to name a few of the recreational opportunities. Itasca State Park is only 22 miles from the city. Established in 1891, Itasca is Minnesota’s oldest state park and is the home of the headwaters of the Mississippi. Logging, agriculture and light manufacturing round out the multi-faceted economy.
