Part of RiverTown Multimedia, the Republican Eagle newspaper has covered Red Wing and surrounding communities since before the Civil War. The paper publishes twice a week and has a circulation of more than 5,000, plus a weekend supplement that reaches another 13,000 homes.
The Republican Eagle received the MNA General Excellence Award in 1998 and 2000. In 1998, the paper won the NNA Best of the States award as the best newspaper in the nation with a circulation under 10,000. The Republican Eagle has also been honored with numerous MNA awards for photography, graphic design and editorial content. An expanding printing plant adjacent to the Eagle prints approximately 50 newspapers and special publications each week. The creative design department and a direct mail division offer customers full-service options for their printing and marketing needs.
Red Wing, a quaint town nestled in the bluffs where the Cannon River joins the Mississippi River, is the Goodhue County seat. A strong local economy includes many manufacturers including Red Wing Shoe Co., Capital Safety and Thomas & Betts. Other major employers are Mayo Clinic Health System in Red Wing, Xcel Energy and Prairie Island Indian Community’s Treasure Island Resort & Casino.
