The Pierce County Herald is a county-seat community newspaper located in the picturesque rural community of Ellsworth, just 45 minutes from the Twin Cities metropolitan area of Minneapolis-St. Paul. Ellsworth sits on an elevated area near the county’s center and just minutes from the Mississippi and St. Croix rivers. Pierce is also home to the popular Rush, Trimbelle, Isabelle, Eau Galle and Kinnickinnic rivers – all known for excellent trout fishing and recreational activities.
The Pierce County Fair, Fourth of July Celebration, Beldenville Old Car Club Show and Polka Fest are a few of the local community celebrations. The Herald is an independent weekly newspaper which is also part of the larger RiverTown Newspaper Group, consisting of 10 weekly newspapers and five free-distribution shoppers.
The Herald has a paid circulation of about 4,000 covering local news and government, feature stories, sports and community events of the entire Pierce County area. The special promotional editions throughout the year consist of our annual Progress Edition, spring and fall home improvement guides, the Ellsworth High School Graduation Scrapbook Edition, Pierce County Fair edition and a holiday guide.
The Herald’s most recent awards are first places for Best Special Section (editorial) and circulation promotion, awarded by the Wisconsin Newspaper Association. Other awards have been received for Best Ad Ideas and Best Special Section.
