FARGO, N.D. – The Forum of Fargo-Moorheadhas announced that Scott Schmeltzer has been appointed the paper’s new advertising director. He will start on April 21.
Schmeltzer replaces former Forum Ad Director Amy Fredrickson, who was in that position since October 2012. Fredrickson was promoted to director of sales operations for Forum Communications Co.in mid-February.Forum General Manager Aaron Becher said he was excited to add someone with Schmeltzer’s experience to lead the sales team.
“Over the past 16 years, Scott has lead successful teams as an advertising director, general manager and publisher,” Becher said. “We’re pleased to hire him to join The Forum.”
Schmeltzer is leaving the general manager/advertising director position for a group of newspapers and niche publications in Door County, Wisconsin. Previously he was the publisher of the Albert Lea (Minn.) Tribune for 10 years. And in his early career he held positions of advertising director at the Hibbing (Minn.) Daily Tribune and advertising sales representative at the Mesabi Daily News in Virginia, Minn.
He also has been an active member of the Minnesota Newspaper Association, where he served on the board of directors while has was publisher in Albert Lea. He also has had leadership roles with the United Way, Relay for Life and a local chamber.
The Forum owned by Forum Communications Co., a multimedia information company based in Fargo, that owns dozens of newspapers, websites, television and radio stations and commercial printing plants in North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
