MITCHELL, S.D. – A Mitchell native has been promoted to oversee the advertising department at The Daily Republic.
Lorie Hansen assumed duties as advertising director Dec. 20 after Daily Republic Publisher Korrie Wenzel announced the promotion to the newspaper’s employees.
“Lorie has the experience, and she’s effectively been doing the job for some time now,” Wenzel said. “Her climb in the advertising department has been fun to watch. Now, she’s in a place where she can really build the department in her image, with her ideas and with her hard work.”
Hansen and her husband, Milo, live in rural Mitchell and have three children.
She has been at the newspaper for 15 years, starting as an assistant in the advertising department. She eventually was promoted to oversee sales of the newspaper’s shopper, the Advisor Advantage, and shortly thereafter became assistant advertising director.
The top job came open when Rustan Burton resigned to become publisher at the newspaper in Juneau, Alaska.
The Daily Republic is owned by Forum Communications Co., which is a multimedia information company based in Fargo, and owns dozens of newspapers, websites, television and radio stations, and commercial printing facilities in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
